Just in Case . . .

Sometimes we have glitches with the internet connection in Italy so if nothing appears here for a few days that's what's happening. We'll try to get it fixed but who knows what's happening out there in cyber space!

Oct. 9 - A Day By The Sea

Friday was our day to visit the Cinque (Five) Terra (Lands) beside the Ligurian Sea on the northwest coast of Italy.  This area is referred to as the Italian Riviera and if you continue along the coastline you will eventually reach the French Riveria.  The five towns of the Cinque Terre have become very popular with international tourists over the past few years because of the unique charm of the multi-colored houses "hanging" off the cliffs along the shoreline and the challenging hiking trails between the villages.  Three of our travelers did hike between two towns and found it to be quite a trek.  The rest of us made our way around by the local train.  We visited three of the towns - Monterosso, Vernazza and Manarola.  We missed W.B. and Rochelle on this trip but they were resting in
Florence.  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed yet another interesting Italian experience!
