Everyone had a good night's sleep and a great breakfast at La Contessina before we started out on our orientation tour to see more of Florence. Retracing our steps from last night we stopped in today at the central market that sells everything from fish, produce, meats, flowers, wine, pasta, and tripe (cow's stomach - yuck!). Locals shop here almost daily for fresh food - the market takes up a whole city block and was built in the 1870's. Then we joined thousands of other tourists as we made our way through the center of the historic area down to the Arno River. We had a nice lunch of pizzas and salads then continued to the Ponte Vecchio - the oldest and only bridge not bombed in WWII. On the bridge are many jewelry shops - most of them specializing in gold so it gets the nickname "gold bridge". We made our way back home and now everyone is confident going out on their own. We enjoyed our evening "wine down" in the courtyard and it's sure to become a daily ritual. Come back again tomorrow to see what's up . . .
