Today we took a double-decker bus tour around Florence and beyond. With the wind blowing through our hair we were off on the "Hop-on, Hop-off" adventure. Climbing up into the hills surrounding the city we stopped in the charming small town of Fiesole. Founded by the Etruscans way back in the "BC" days, it became a Roman colony and was eventually overtaken by Florence. We got photos of a great view of the city below us, saw the Roman ruins from a distance, visited a typical Italian cemetery and had a great sidewalk café lunch. Back on the bus, we made our way back down to Florence with another "hop off" at Piazza Michelangelo for yet another great view (a little closer) of the Duomo, the Arno and all the buildings of the historic center. A special event was going on in the streets of Florence tonight - Vogue Fashion Night - but we decided we were a little too old to really appreciate all the hoopla over new fashion! A good day and a nice walk around tonight. Come again to see what's up next . . .
