What a great time we had today on our Florence Food and Cooking Tour. We began at 10 am with a walking tour around Florence related to food and stopping to shop for foods we would need for the class. A minibus picked us up and took us up into the hills outside Florence to a wonderful venue with a state-of-the-art kitchen, outdoor pizza oven and lovely dining terrace. Carmella was our cooking instructor/chef and she was a lot of fun - singing and dancing around as she showed us how to make all the great dishes. A professional pizza maker stopped by to give us a lesson and we all made and ate our own creations. The pizzas take only 90 seconds to bake in the super-hot wood fired oven. Pasta with ragu sauce, pork roast with potatoes, tiramisu and gelato rounded out the day's menu. Everyone had a great time and we were happy and full when we said goodbye to Carmella! Hope these photos don't make you too hungry . . . more later!
