We were out and about in Florence again today. Beginning with a walk in the Santa Maria Novella Church neighborhood we visited the historical SMN Perfumery originally begun by the monks of the church monastery in the 1400's. Today the perfumery is a commercial business but still housed in the old monastery building that is very beautiful (and fragrant!) to see (and smell!). We continued the walk passing through the Strozzi Palace and back to the residence for lunch and a rest. Later in the afternoon we toured the Medici-Riccardi Palazzo and especially enjoyed seeing the wonderful frescoed walls of the chapel there. The building now belongs to the provincial government and is used as offices as well as a museum. Florence is full of interesting places to visit and we are checking off our list of "must sees". . . our days are numbered!
